The Receiving Cycle
Author: Ed Hirsch

Do you remember how much others have helped you in your life?

Are you under an obligation to *payback* others for helping you ... maybe not necessarily to the same ones who helped you, but, perhaps to folks who are where you were when you received the help?

Many times, it is important to become bold and reach out to help others when they are in need. If you can get yourself into a position to be paid monetarily for helping others, this is wonderful ... just don't limit your support to others for personal gain alone. Your feelings of self-worth expand dramatically when you help others without expecting anything is return.

The quantity of money earned, is an excellent *measuring stick* which tangibly shows the amount of benefit you are providing to others. It is very good to help many people and to earn much money. Money will make it possible for you to continue on in this blessed manner of *giving.*

The main reason that giving is better than receiving, is mostly because the act of giving is the first step in the process which begins the Receiving cycle.

The Receiving cycle does have a very definite cause and effect relationship. Simply stated, the more value you provide (I like the word *inject*) into the market place, the more will come back to you in return. When you begin a new business, much giving is required while the receiving is VERY thin for a while ... so don't quit your day job until the money is ACTUALLY flowing in.

Do you remember when you read *Many Happy Returns* on a Birthday greeting card? You thought, "Yeah, right!, What did I do to deserve them?"

Well, when you earn much, you KNOW what you had to do, and therefore are humble at the results. You had to pay a steep cost, your body and mind was/is tired and drained at the end of each hard-earned day.

Being full aware of the price paid, sacrifices made and lifestyle changes ... people who know you see all the evidence of the personal commitment and may be willing to follow in your footsteps if your example is worth following for them.

It is hard to be a good example because your commitment tends to take your life out of balance. If you focus on balance, people are more likely to want to emulate you because being in balance is like *having it all.*

If you want it all, find someone who seems to have this accomplished and ask them how they did it. They may tell you and you will begin to live the life you aspire to.

If you start YOUR Receiving Cycle soon, things will get better for you. Your vision for the future will become clearer and each day will be an exciting and worthwhile endeavor.
