YOUR MIND IS YOUR BODY'S BEST FRIEND
Author: Nordine Zouareg

As recently as 1974, scientists believed that the immune system was a self-regulating body system outside the realm of conscious control. This belief was strongly questioned after Robert Ader found that the rats in one of his experiments had learned to suppress their own immune systems and were dying as a result.

You know your chronological age. It’s what we usually try to forget on our birthday. But what is your body ’s age? Body age is a measurement of how old you are biologically based upon your health and fitness level as opposed to what your birth certificate indicates. For example, someone who is thirty-five years old may have a body age that is actually ten years older. Knowing that fact can be a powerful motivator to encourage you to work toward improving your overall fitness level.

YOU DIDN’T CAUSE IT, YOU CAN’T CURE IT, AND YOU CAN’T CONTROL IT
Author: Dr. Sparks Lunney

When someone we care about is in danger, it is only natural to want to do something. Our hand reaches out automatically when a loved one loses their balance and is about to fall. Parents, understanding they are protecting their teen from the consequences of facing the world on their own, tap inner resources to find the patience to cope with rebellious adolescents. When someone you love becomes alcoholic, the same impulse to help can easily translate into actions such as blaming yourself, hiding bottles, or calling your hung-over loved one’s employer saying he or she is sick today and won’t be in. Although these behaviors spring from a loving impulse, they are not actually loving actions. They do not help your alcoholic loved one. They do not help you. They are harmful to you and your alcoholic loved one.

Women-Only Clubs: The Reason & Need
Author: Rande LaDue

In an article last year in CBI (Club Business International) Magazine, John McCarthy, the Executive Director of IHRSA (International Health & Racquet Sports Association) addressed the issue of Women-Only Clubs. IHRSA estimates that there are approximately 2,000 women-only fitness centers in the US serving approximately 2 million women. McCarthy cited research done for IHRSA by Dr. Christine Brooks of the University of Michigan's Fitness Research Center, which indicated a variety of reasons large groups of women did not use coed facilities, especially the large population of de-conditioned women who are in the most need of regular exercise but have the most anxiety about beginning.

Will This Year's Flu Paralyze The US And Canada?
Author: Tom Rogers

According to the Associated Press on August 26th, the US and Canada may have to close schools, restrict travel and ration scarce medications if a powerful new flu strain spurs a worldwide outbreak, according to the federal planners for the next pandemic. It will take months to brew a new vaccine that works against the kind of super flu that causes a pandemic, although government preparations include research to speed the production. Federal plans have long been awaited by flu specialists, who say that it is just a matter of time before the next pandemic strikes and the nation is woefully unprepared for it!

Most people are well aware that an estimated 45 million Americans currently do not have healthcare, but is the crisis simply the lack of health insurance or even the cost of health insurance? Why Diets Don't Work
Author: Aaron M. Potts, ISSA CFT

One of the biggest scams ever successfully pulled on the American public is - somewhat appropriately - a 4-letter word. That word is, of course, Diet. By now you have seen advertisements for more diets than you can easily remember, and have also most likely seen an article or television show debunking some of those diets. Unfortunately, the art of shooting holes through the credibility of a diet plan is normally done by ANOTHER diet company, solely for the purpose of getting you to use their product instead. Well, this article has nothing to sell, nor really anything to gain, save the knowledge that hopefully the reader - that's you - will put down the Diet Madness Menu, and get a real world point of view on why diets don't work, and what you can do about it.

His ability to "talk himself" into a condition which enabled him to cope with his terrible situation at the Nazi concentration camp can most certainly be equated to hypnotic trance, His search for meaning is certainly a process similar to the utilization techniques of Ericksonian therapy.?

After all, you’re now investing more money into your health so you certainly don’t want to just throw that money away. Additionally, there are typically many more people working out at the gym than anywhere else, so you’ll probably be more likely to get caught up in the ambience and energy of others exercising as well. However, on the other hand, because there can be so many people working out at the gym, you may feel intimidated beginning those first steps towards getting back in condition in front of others. When you stop to consider all of the pros and cons with signing up for a gym membership, you may find that making this

THE AROMATIC SHOWER
Author: Kim Newman

Using essential oils under the shower is not quite as therapeutic as using them in the bath. Since the water is always running, a lot of the aroma and oil goes down the plug hole!! It is best to use aromatic showers to wake up your mind and body, because it is quite difficult to relax deeply when you are standing up!! The best way to avoid wasting essential oils in the shower is to mix them first with a carrier oil, then massage them into the skin before you get under the spray. Or, you can dip a sponge into the mixture and rub it over your body whilst in the shower. If you have a deep base to your shower, you can make it more aromatic by blocking up the plug hole, so that the oils vaporize in the warm water in the bottom. The aroma will then rise with the steam. A choice of carrier oils with which to mix your essential oils are available but, I would recommend the following.

Almost everyone experiences a headache at one time or another. Headaches can vary tremendously in intensity from the barely noticeable to the real banger that can put you in bed for hours if not days. Often the most severe headaches are those most resistant to relief by "painkiller" pills, yet they respond quickly and easily to the techniques described below.

Reduce Asthma And Breathe Free
Author: Dr. Rita Louise

Asthma can be a serous and often frightening condition that is typified by a tightening of the chest, wheezing and difficulty breathing. Asthma is made up of two underlying components: inflammation and constriction. During normal breathing, the bands of muscles that surround the airways are relaxed, and air moves freely. But in people with asthma, the bands of muscle surrounding the airways tighten and air cannot move freely. In addition, individuals with asthma often have airways that are inflamed, irritated and swollen. This can make it hard for them to breathe. This irritation can also cause the mucus membrane that lines these tissues to produce excessive mucus, which can further reduce the flow of air into the lungs.

Protect Against Mesothelioma by Avoiding Asbestos
Author: Jimmy Atkinson

Mesothelioma is a rare cancer that attacks the body's mesothelial cells around the organs. The mesothelium provides a protective membranous lining for the internal organs and allows moving organs (i.e. the heart and the lungs) to glide easily against adjacent structures. The names of the three regions of mesothelial cells that provide protective coating are 1) pleura, the sac which surrounds the lungs; 2) peritoneum, the lining which protects the abdominal cavity; and 3) pericardium, the sac which surrounds the heart. Three different types of mesothelioma cancer attack these three different regions.

Practicing Wellness
Author: Kim Eickhoff

What is wellness? I see wellness as a way of life. It is about creating health in order to prevent sickness. It is about practicing activities and skills on a regular basis that create physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Practicing a life of wellness is about just that, practicing it. Achieving physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health is a process, not a goal. I do not believe that anyone ever reaches the point where they are 100% healthy in any of these areas. I also do not believe that anyone can engage in these behaviors 100% of the time. At some point we slip, after all, we are human and we are not perfect. That is why living a life of wellness is a practice. We never truly perfect it. But we can become better at it, live healthier, and achieve a higher quality and more enjoyable life.

Panic Disorder and Gastroesophageal Reflux
Author: Stuart Shipko, M.D.

It is my opinion, based on endoscopy and 24 hour gastric and esophageal pH studies that the gastrointestinal problems, so very common in panic disorder are a result of abnormal bile flow. Cholecystokinin (CCK) has long been known as a central nervous system neurotransmitter involved in anxiety. CCK is even better known as the primary regulator of bile flow, usually stimulated by food entering the GI tract. Abnormal bile flow backwards (refluxing) into the stomach is caustic and quickly causes bile gastritis. Bile is alkaline, and the stomach demands an acidic environment. When bile refluxes into the stomach, the stomach secretes acid in an attempt to neutralize the bile. Unfortunately bile is sticky and does not mix easily with stomach acid and often copious amounts of acid are produced causing bloating and increasing pressure on the gastroesophageal junction. This increased pressure causes gastroesophageal reflux. This reflux can manifest as heartburn, sinusitis or aspiration asthma or laryngitis. If the bil
