BECOMING SUCCESSFUL
Author: Madeleine Singer, Ph.D.

The more we celebrate success, the more a success mentality is built.

The following are pathways for success:

1.In order to reach your true potential, you must have an all consuming passion. If the passion is not there, it is easy to give up when the project becomes difficult. It is only that passion that keeps you going even when the going gets tough.

2. You must have the belief of who you are, what you can become and realize that whatever your mind can conceive, your mind can achieve. Know that your mind is the most complex computer and you have no limitations.

3. Incorporate a strategy of organizing resources to work to your potential. Seek out other people who have accomplished similar goals. It may be in totally different areas, but their strategy may be adaptable and can be utilized to suit your needs.

4. Having clear values and knowing what really matters in your life will make it easier to manifest what you want. If your goals are not clear, sift out what you don't want and see what is left. The more specific you are about what you do want, makes it easier for you to accomplish it.

5. You must have the energy and vibrancy for success. Make sure you are not just achieving an isolated incident to be accomplished, but that you are designing a life.

6. You must have the ability to develop a deep rapport with others. This is not only great to use for networking, but to have as a resource and support group as well.

7. In order to produce new results you must have mastery of communication both from within and without. Goals are only signposts pointing you in a certain direction. Thoughts have no power over us unless we give in to them. They are only words strung together. The sort of meaning they have to us is what we choose to give them. Only choose to think thoughts that nourish and support you and you will feel strong.

Try this exercise: Monitor your thoughts for one hour and notice the words you think about yourself. It is said that we think one negative or hurtful remark about ourselves every 60 seconds. Like: "Am I dumb!" "How could I have done that?" "How stupid of me." Multiply these negative thoughts times the hours in a day, the days in a year and times your age, to see how many times you have reinforced negatives in your life. Starting now-become aware of those thoughts and start reinforcing the positive.

Besides successful behaviors, these are some key beliefs that successful people know.

1. There are no coincidences. Everything happens for a reason. Take the results and find out what you can learn from them. There are no such things as failures-only results. Wrong-doing is only the result of wrong-thinking. By changing your thinking, the results will change; therefore, proper thinking will produce the results you want.

2. People who fear failure develop a fear of what might not work in advance. Therefore, they feel it is pointless to take action as they are not going to succeed anyway. They sabotage their own success and never develop a success mentality. The purpose that you have is much more important than the object that is being pursued. So if you understand why you want to be rich rather than how to do it, you will have enough reasons to accomplish it.

3. Take responsibility for whatever happens. We usually take credit for our successes and blame others for our failures. Whatever happens-own up to it.

4. People are your greatest resource so form a successful support team and network.

5. Regard your work as play. We relax, let our guard down and become much more creative during play. These are the aspects that should be included into work. The process must be fun to make the results worthwhile.

6. Success in anything can only be accomplished by commitment. Just being interested wanes after a period of time. The mind and body must be in conjunction with one another to pursue success. A person who is more committed will surpass a person who has more talent but is not as committed.

To summarize, be committed, convert work into play, form your support team, take responsibility, understand your purpose, and change your thinking to get the success you deserve!
