Marie’s love life dramatically changed after she placed two pink candles in a special area of her newly-painted home. Her dates multiplied from twice a year to several dates a month. Marie’s Feng Shui adjustments worked perfectly. Unfortunately, she didn’t realize that these changes were more than simple home improvements. Her peach-blossomed walls produced a luck which to Chinese mystics harvests fertile, but short-lived love affairs instead of serious relationships. Today, her bedroom has been re-painted in lavender. The result? Passionate late-night calls were replaced with marriage proposals. Marie still burns her candles at night, and the energy has been enhanced with vases filled with fresh flowers.
Feng Shui (prononounced ‘Fung shway") is a magical, yet practical, 5000 year-old Chinese philosophy. The Chinese believe that you can change your life by balancing the energies in your environment. "The point of feng shui is to harness and enhance environmental Ch’i to improve the flow of Ch’i within our bodies, thus improving our life and destiny," says Feng Shui Master Lin Yun.
Your home is alive and everything in your home has a vibration. That is why when Marie shifted the energy in her home, her life changed. Her Feng Shui adjustments made things happen. However, some energy shifts are subtle while others are much more dramatic.
The flow of Ch’i is of paramount importance when evaluating a space. Unblocking passages within the energy system of your home helps your life flow more smoothly. Cluttered hallways, towering furniture, and blank walls obstruct the harmonious flow of Ch’i. Your front door is the most important area Madeleine Glick (212)714-3975 in your home. The door is how the Ch’i of the world enters your life. Make sure the door opens properly and the area is clear. Believe it or not your front door and entrance to your home can affect all areas of your life – from getting a new job to attracting your soulmate.
The BaGua is one of the primary tools Feng Shui consultants use during a consultation. It is an octagon-shaped symbol with trigrams from the I Ching, The Book of Changes and Yin and Yang symbols in the center. Yin and Yang represent two opposing, but interconnected pairs of opposites - one is always flowing into the other. When these fwo interact, they produce the eight trigrams, which is the heart of the I Ching. Divined by a China Emperor around 3500 B.C., the trigrams represent the energetic forces in the heavens and upon the earth. The BaGua is a map of life and when overlaid on your floor plan, it is used to target and evaluate specific areas of your home and your life. The relationship area or partnership/marriage area is in the far right corner of your home or apartment. Each area of the BaGua has a corresponding color. Pink is the color for the relationship area. Pink accents used in this section of your home will enhance the relationship area.
The BaGua is used to select those Feng Shui cures or adjustments that enhance Ch’i and release energy blocks in your space. Crystals, windchimes, mirrors, plants and flowers are the most popular cures. More specifically, Feng Shui crystals (Austrian glass) are designed both to help the energy flow better in your home and to specifically enhance any area of the BaGua. A pale pink-colored crystal , my favorite Feng Shui cure for the bedroom/relationship corner, adds the positive energy of a crystal plus the soft, harmonious quality of the color pink. Other cures include: flowers, colored windchimes, photos of you and your significant other, wedding photos, aromatherapy.
Windchimes are hung indoors either in your bedroom or in the far right area of your home. Windchimes literally send your message out to the world: the rings of a pink-colored windchime attract special energies that help create a positive relationship.
Clothing, jewelry, and accessories can be used as Feng Shui cures. Wear colors that make you feel more loving such as pink or more passionate such as red or magenta. In Black Sect Feng Shui , the form that I practice, subtle changes and the use of intention and prayer often produce dramatic results. Rarely does someone have to do something dramatic like move out or reconstruct their space in order to achieve good feng shui. Focus your thoughts on positive outcomes and use the most powerful "cures" to make them more tangible. A special crystal or a bracelet may be all that’s needed to manifest your heart’s desire.
