"Don't confuse fame with success. Madonna is one; Helen Keller is the other."-Erma Bombeck
Erma Bombeck may have had a bad-hair day when she wrote that. But she made the point: fame can be one thing, success another.
Fame = notoriety, popularity; success = happy outcome, fulfillment. There's a noteworthy distinction.
Many people are ambitious and achievement oriented. Fame and success may sometimes get scrambled in the scramble for goals.
Still, fame and success aren't mutually exclusive. We can name many people, from the past and present, who attained both.
But most of us will never know fame. We will likely leave this world as if our name had been writ in water--even if it's carved in granite.
But we can find success--fulfillment in our lives. And that comes from finding what you like to do, what you can do well--even with distinction--and do it. Pursue fulfillment. Passionately!
Don't be confused by confusing personal fulfillment (success) with public esteem (fame).
"Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally."--David Frost
