Keeping Your Eye on the Big Ball ....
Author: Subhashis Das Gupta

How often do we reach the point of scoring the fantastic goal , but petty issues come up in the way which diffuses our focus from the big ball and ends up in a frustrating and disappointing finish .

Resolve to keep your eye on the big ball. In working with employees the big objective is developing their full potential and not making issues out of minor errors. The big objective in marriage is peace, happiness and tranquility and not coming up with quarrels .90% of quarrels would not have fructified had the troublesome situation been faced with the question - "Is this really important? "

We must all resolve to work incessantly. What we need is the right motive .We cannot work in a way, which will bring us the choicest blessings, and also the same work done with a different spirit, will bring in bondage. The main secret is to learn to work without attachment. Work like a master and not like a slave.

There is a notion that unless we are ambitious and eager for the fruits of our work we will not achieve anything. Or, unless we have a strong attachment for a person, we cannot do well for that person. Attachment makes us demand, while love unfolds the capacity for giving. If we really love the art of our work, we shall be more interested in how well we can do it, than how much we are going to gain from it.

When we are merely attached to the fruits of our work and do not get the result we desire, we become discouraged and give up easily; but when we work out of love for the work itself, no matter how many times we fail to get the desired result, we keep on. This constant concern for gain and loss hampers our free action and impedes our spiritual progress.

Hence resolve to keep your eye on the big ball and love the work rather than chasing the fallouts and results. The ideal Karma Yogis when praised do not grow egotistical, believing they are the doers; neither when they are blamed do they succumb to it, thinking that they are responsible.

The physical constitution is largely dependent on the mind and the mind is dependent on the thought force; hence when the thought is connected to some noble motive and the eye is set on the big ball, it refreshes and brings joy to the general quality of life!!
