Mind-Gram: It's All About Attitude
Author: Jim Schneider

Last spring I was walking in a park. A short distance ahead of me was a mom and her three-year- old daughter. The little girl was holding on to a string that was attached to a helium balloon. All of a sudden, a sharp gust of wind took the balloon from the little girl.

I braced myself for some screaming and crying. But, no! As the little girl turned to watch her balloon go skyward, she gleefully shouted out, "Wow!" I didn't realize it at that moment, but that little girl taught me something. Later that day, I received a phone call from a person with news of an unexpected problem. I felt like responding with "Oh no, what should we do?" But remembering that little girl, I found myself saying, "Wow, that's interesting! How can I help you?"

Dear Friend,

How easy is it, as you go through your days at work or at home, to see any obstacle that gets in your way as a problem that could throw you off track? There really is a danger in doing that. In terms of pure numbers, I think it's fair to say that you get more barriers in your path than open, clear roads. Often the only clear pathways are the ones you ourselves have paved.

In his book, "Diagrams of Success", Dr. Leroy Denning describes how each choice we make either takes us closer to, or further from, our goal. http://www.feedingyourmind.com/diagramsofsuccess/htm

You see, you have situations every day that give you the opportunity to either grow or to falter. You can and should learn from every situation you come into contact with. You have opportunities to grow and improve at every junction.

All you have to do is to ask ourselves a simple question, "Will this action take me closer to or further from my goal?"

No matter which way you choose to go, you have a learning opportunity. What you do with that opportunity can profoundly affect how quickly you achieve your goals. Even if you make the wrong choice, you can go back and rethink the situation so that you can either redo the action or make sure that the next time the situation comes up you take the proper (goal achieving) path.

Dr. Denning goes on to explain that when you ask yourself that question (closer or further from my goal), you're talking to your subconscious. And, he says, "every time you ask your subconscious mind a question it has to give you an answer." http://www.feedingyourmind.com/diagramsofsuccess/htm

So if you have programmed our mind the right way, you will get the answer that will propel you to your goal. Likewise, the wrong programming will remove you from what you want. That programming, of course, is your paradigm.

In the story above, the little 3 year old, although subconsciously, made a spit-second decision when she released the balloon: get upset and cry or gleefully shout, "WOW!" Something in her programming made her choose the high road and shout with wonder about the action of the balloon. I wonder how many adults would think the same way?

The good news is that you can change that. You see,it's all about paradigms and being able to change the bad ones. To quote from "Diagrams of Success" by Dr. Denning again, "When we learn from our situation we change our paradigm."

I urge you to look into this fabulous manual that Dr. Denning has put together for anyone who wants to improve his or her place in life. For more information about "Diagrams of Success" by Dr. Leroy Denning, please go to: http://www.feedingyourmind.com/diagramsofsuccess.htm
