No Two People Are the Same

When a facilitator leads a workshop or seminar, she doesn’t just present information to a group, she presents to a group of individuals--pairs of ears and eyes that hear and see through the veil of their own understanding, attitudes and experience.

Facilitators need to be aware there are individual differences in the way people learn. No two people are the same or experience the world in the same way.

Each person’s experience is unique, regardless of family, sex, religion, ethnic group or life style. Each person brings his uniqueness with him to the group.

There are indeed similarities among groups, but a facilitator is wise not to assume she knows how a person will react to, think about or understand information.

The word facilitator best describes a workshop leader or seminar trainer because her job is to facilitate—to make it easier for or to assist the progress of an individual in the learning process.

To be her most effective, the facilitator needs to present new information in a variety of ways that are inclusive of individual experience and styles of learning. A successful facilitator makes it as easy and enjoyable as possible for each individual to get the most value from the workshop or seminar.
