What Are You Worth?

In speaking to dozens of service professionals every month there is one issue that I see time and time again. Frankly, it worries me. There is an interesting author named Stuart Wilde that says, “When they show up, bill ‘em”. What does Mr. Wilde mean by this statement?

Well, it has to do as much with your attitude of self-worth as it does about your business policy.

As entrepreneurs we tend to de-value our time. If you don’t place a high value on your time, I can promise you one thing for certain…no one else will. So, why are we putting so little stock on our time? Why are we giving such little value to ourselves and our services?

I see this hang-up surface all the time with entrepreneurs, authors, speakers and consultants and doctors dealing with fees and prices. They worry about whether or not the person sitting across from them can afford the fees that they really want to charge, so they lower their fees. Often to the point were they are losing money!

After all, time is money, yes?

Here is a secret that I learned early on in my career in the corporate world and it was later on reinforced in my own business: the world will accept YOUR appraisal of value.

Take a close look at the true benefits and solutions that you bring to your clients and customers.

What would you pay for what you bring to the table?

Your self-worth controls how much value you place on your time, your know-how and your products and services. How much you dare demand…and consequently how much you get.

Anytime you push your self worth up, even if a tiny bit, you will automatically increase your income.
