for. The have grown accustomed to the mindset that life has passed them by,
and their daily existence has dwindled down to little more than becoming an
endless series of trials to endure and hurdles to jump over.
We look for ways of triggering a breakthrough. Methods for chipping away at
that mindset. Tools that give them a glimmer of hope and a renewed sense that
Life can still have a special plan for them. Perhaps even a plan incorporates
their many battle scars and harsh experiences and gives them such greater
capacity to in turn reach out and minister to the hearts of others.

hearts of others who are in pain.
Part of our skill in reaching this population is that Richard was homeless for
several months back in 1990. He lived on the streets and barely scraped by. He
slept on the beach, in boiler rooms, in cars. He lived every day of his
existence in deep fear and despair. Richard promised that if Life were to lift
him out of that hellish existence, that he would dedicate the rest of
his life to helping others. Amazingly, eight years later, he secured a
position at a Manhattan financial firm and was soon earning more than $100,000
per year running a technology department that they allowed him to create from
