Inviting Success & Abundance Into Your Life
Author: Mary Beth Lang
1) In order to get what you want out of life you first have to know exactly what you want. One of the most necessary and difficult things you must do is to define success for yourself. Discard the "shoulds" and "coulds". Ignore the "voices" of your spouse, parents, and society. Based on your wants and values, what conditions must be present in your life for you to feel successful. This is where you'll find real desire and motivation.
2) Based on your definition of success develop a clear, concise and passionate intention. Finish the following sentence, "I will...." What will you do or be? Does the thought of it fire you up? If not, try again until you find the intention that excites you. Now, write it down, post it, carry it with you and recite it to yourself, with confidence, every chance you get.
3) Develop daily, weekly or monthly actions to bring you closer to your vision. Put these actions in your daily planner right now. Consider the saying "Do what you've always done and you'll get what you've always got." In other words, don't expect your life to change if you don't start doing something different. Now is the time to stop thinking and to start doing. Start small if you must, but start. You may have fears, but some of your most rewarding experiences will come from moving out of your comfort zone. Redefine your limits and expand your possibilities by doing things you've never done before.
4) Fill your mind with positive thoughts and affirmations. By being positive you'll attract positive people and experiences into your life. Actively seek support from friends and family members who believe in you. Find a success mentor like a personal coach or anyone approachable whose life you feel is the epitome of success. Avoid the negative, "life-sucking" people in your life (you know who they are), for they will only try to bring you down or keep you down at their level.
5) Finally, when you are tired and tempted to give up, DON'T! When you encounter obstacles and setbacks, remind yourself that this is when winners dust themselves off and try again. Winners don't give up. It has been said that Thomas Edison attempted 10,000 times to invent the light bulb before succeeding!! How many of us can claim to have that kind of persistence? Why not you?
